Life Tip #202

Write your own script. Don’t let others, or circumstances, or your past set the agenda for your future. Don’t let your mom, or your dad, a friend, or a sibling write it for you. Don’t even let your significant other write it for you (although I strongly suggest that you include your significant other in your scripts).

Let’s face it. People try to control others, God only knows why, although a misplaced need for power comes to mind. This has been a sad reality since the dawn of man. But in these times, in this country, we should all have enough freedom to write our own script and not be controlled by others. I know this is probably an “easier said than done” reality for some, but I would urge everyone to summon the courage to break free and set a new course. If that means literally breaking free of a controlling person, then so be it. Life is too short to allow ours to be controlled by another person.

Likewise, don’t let your current imperfect circumstances determine your entire life’s script. If you hate your life as it is right now, you can change it drastically starting…right now. You can turn it around completely and start heading in a new, brighter, exciting, and fulfilling direction. You just have to decide to do it.

Above all, do not let your past define your present and your future. Experts in the field of psychology and thought leaders on success and motivation all agree that one of the things that holds us back from pursuing our passions is dwelling on negative events in our past. Pain and failure from our past has a way of paralyzing us from ever attempting greatness.

I urge you to spend some time researching the stories of those who had dark pasts yet were able to move on and achieve great things in their lives. The real life examples are endless.
